I’ve been watching a lot of McMillan & Wife lately. Netflix was suggesting it to me for quite sometime, but I kept brushing it off like a stubborn teenager. Every time I logged on, there it was: staring at me, nagging me, tugging on my sleeve, over and over and over again. Relentless. Finally, one evening I succumbed and, boy, was I happy. Why did I wait so long to watch this show? I’m fully aware that I have an addiction to 70’s and 80’s crime shows: Columbo, Kojak, Magnum P.I., Remington Steele, Moonlighting, Simon & Simon – you name it. I love ’em all. I guess it was only a matter of time before I accepted McMillan & Wife’s advances and now I’m ready to go all the way, baby.
This show is awesome. It has all the comforting elements that I love about shows from this era. The color schemes, the music, the who-dunnit predictability… basically, I’m in heaven. I’m also kind of in love with Rock Hudson and Susan Saint James. Their interactions are adorable. They’re constantly giggling and laughing at each other and their dialog seems really free and easy. I’m thinking these two must have gotten along really well and truly liked being around each other. Either that or they are just the most amazingest actors to have ever been in the universe. Have I sold you yet? Let me break it down for you:
- Rock Hudson’s mustache:
- Susan Saint James’ hair:
