Friday Night Mixtape: Hannigram

Friday Night Mixtape: Hannigram

So, I love good TV. We’ve established that, right? I like a lot of shows, but every now and again, one sneaks into my heart and takes a big bite. In Hannibal’s case, he’d probably stuff it with herbs and wrap it in bacon first.

Ha. Ohhhhh, cannibal humor.

Hannibal is Bryan Fuller’s new show starring Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, a gifted, but troubled profiler and Mads Mikkelsen as the titular and infamous, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The series takes place before the events of Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs when Dr. Lecter is still a practicing psychiatrist, who also works quite closely with the F.B.I.

For a horror series (and make no mistake, despite this being a network show, it is scaaaarrrrrrry) it’s shockingly beautiful. The set and food design is some of the best I’ve seen since Fuller’s previous show, Pushing Daisies.

All of that is great, but what really makes the show sing for me (and for other “fannibals“) is the relationship between Will and Dr. Lecter. Sometimes lovely, sometimes homoerotic and sometimes truly terrifying – “Hannigram” is the most compelling bromance on TV.

And so – the other night I couldn’t sleep, so I used my insomnia to curate a nice, long Hannibal fan-mix because I am a nerd, but you already knew that.

She is the bossypants of a web development and graphic design department, but in her spare time enjoys playing dress-up, eating clementines and covering anything she can with sparkles.
