Kitschy Kitschy Cool, Art For the Kitchen

As a kid growing up in the 70’s & 80’s, I can remember some really bad kitchen art. It was either like, a tomato poster with a very skillfully illustrated compendium of every single type of tomato known to man, or photographs of real life fruit with thick water rivulets dripping down their luscious curves. How many sitcom kitchens did we see with that kind of bad art? Too Close For Comfort? Mork & Mindy? You know you can remember it if you just squint your eyes and make everything blurry like they do on TV.

Now, I think it should be pretty clear to you, I really have a soft spot in my heart for bad art, I collect it, I love it, I relish in it. There is, however, a special part of me that actually likes good stuff too, if you can believe it. I thought I would plunder some of my Etsy favorites to share with you what I think would take your kitchen from so-so to SO!SO! Now, I want you to keep in mind that my house looks like a box of crayons exploded in it. I lik’ah the bright colors, and this collection reflects that. My real estate agent told us not to paint a single wall if we try to list our house, she’s just gonna list it as “artsy” & “eclectic.” So that gives you a hint at where my real taste level falls.

Here’s what I like for a kitchen:

These cute pieces from Samantha Cotterill might make your in house chef feel bad, but as the mother of two VERY picky eaters, I have heard all of these complaints just today. Why not embrace the complaints & frame these for your walls? Too Mushy, Too Salty, Too Cold.

GH Yeoh’s Mr. Pear Etsy Shop has a whole lotta pear goin’ on. All super cute & with pretty colors, I’m sure you could find one to match your kitchen decor. Pictured here are Hello, Color My Day, & No Place Like Home.

Here we have Lauren Gregg’s Revenge of the Pizza Monster, Vintage Pyrex Poster by PoconoModern, and a print that is actually hanging in my very own kitchen HappyDoodleLand’s Swirly Hair.

See, I told you I like bright colors in my home!
