Revlon: Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Revlon’s new Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain is kind of the shiz, you guys. I didn’t think they could top their Colorburst Lip Butter from earlier this year, but helllllloooooo. I love these so, so much.

It’s both a balm and a stain, which just doesn’t seem possible, but it is. They come in chubby crayon sicks kind of like Tarte’s Lipsurgence or Clinique’s Chubby Sticks, but I think these blow those way more expensive brands out of the water.

Lipsurgence is lovely, but can settle into the lines of my lips and it doesn’t have great staying power. Chubby Sticks are more of a tinted lip balm with very little color payoff. Kissable Balm Stains are super saturated and pigmented and they actually stain your lips.

They have a gel-like consistency, which can cause a little drag as you apply, but nothing too terrible. They feel creamy and ever so-slightly minty on the lips. One of the things I love the most is that they don’t look wet. I’m kind of over super glossy lips right now, so these are a nice change. Your lips look moisturized, but not slimy, which – yay, cos, ew.

The color selection is pretty diverse, but because I’m me, I went for the brightest 4 they still had on the shelf.

The staying power of the stains varied by color, but lasted somewhere between 4 and 12 hours.

Romantic – Lovely, warm, bricky red. This one will be great in fall. It had the least staying power, clocking out around 4 hours, but still.
– Gorgeous magenta-y, deep pink color. Kind of reminds me of Mac’s famous Rebel with a hint of Revlon’s Wild Orchid. This one is my standout favorite and has the longest staying power. The picture below of me sitting in my office was taken after 5 1/2 hours of wear.
Lovesick – Bright and cheery fuchsia pink. It reminds me of a more vibrant version of Mac’s Lickable. I wore this one for 12 hours yesterday. It never budged.
Sweetheart – Perfect pink. This one is very similar to Mac’s Craving only a touch more pink. In my weird brain, this would constitute a natural lip, but I’m perfectly aware that I’m crazy. This one has great staying power as well. It lasted about 8 hours.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are available at all major drugstores, grocery stores and Target for $7 – $8. If I were you, I would wait for them to be on sale and grab a boatload.

What do you think? Will you try any of these beauties?

  • The application I put on at lunch today is still going strong. I am SO buying these this weekend, dude. Thanks for the tip!

  • So cute! I say this as a person who hasn’t even brushed her hair all week, but I think that smitten would give me whiplash all over again from the double take I would give myself in the mirror, ’cause I’d be so fierce and all. Whoops! Looks like I’m still on pain killers…

  • […] Honorable mention goes to: Smitten, Lovesick, and Sweetheart from this post. […]
